The New Xelas

Margaret Clark and I are pleased to introduce our newly re-launched publication,

Xelas Magazine

With the new Xelas Magazine we aim to publish work that promotes discussions about literature's relationship to a sense of place, as it emerges from the exploration of individual histories and the environments they inhabit.

To that end, in the past few weeks we have:
  • Narrowed our submission fields to create a stronger literary voice.
  • Developed clear deadlines to ensure a consistent publication schedule.
  • Reworked the site layout to put the writing and writers first.
  • Introduced a critical blog to promote more literary discussion.
  • Created a more precise mission statement to direct future improvements.

So whether this is the first you've heard of our publication or you've been following its progress since the beginning, we welcome you to take a gander at the new site. Check out the first blog entry! Read the issues to date, and maybe the submissions guidelines for those to come!

We're really excited about the future of Xelas Magazine--and we hope, after seeing the new vision, we can make believers out of you too.

All the best and happy reading!

Xelas Magazine 2nd Issue

I'm very pleased to announce the second issue of Xelas Magazine is on-line; I'm also excited to announce that Margaret Clark has joined me as co-editor.

The latest issue features poetry by Claudia Sherman, David Eadington, and JoSelle Vanderhooft (among others) and fiction by Zinta Aistars, Rusty Barnes, and Louise Norlie. We are also proud to publish excerpts from a new translation of Arthur Rimbaud's "A Season in Hell" by J.F. Quackenbush.

To our contributors, without whom this issue would not exist, and to our readers, without whom this magazine would not exist, a very sincere Thank You!
